SBSA Structural Consultants

The firm, in continuous operation since 1962, specializes in consulting services in structural engineering.  While the primary region of its activity is eastern Canada, it is also involved with projects in western Canada, the United States, and abroad.

The full range of consulting services is provided:  preliminary evaluations, budget estimates, feasibility studies, and final preparation of complete working drawings and specifications, including field supervision.

In addition to its expertise in structural engineering, the firm is also involved in investigations of building failures, code committees, computer studies, and finite element analysis.

The principals and staff are well-experienced in the design of structures in precast, prestressed, post-tensioned and reinforced concrete, structural steel, pressure vessels, silos and tanks, tubular galleries, stacks, shallow and deep foundations including foundation vibration, underpinning and renovations and in retrofitting of existing structures and foundations.

Computer software, proprietary and in-house, is predominant in engineering design and analysis, as well as in documentation, where AutoCAD is used.

The types of projects with which the firm is involved include industrial, processing and manufacturing plants, multi-storey commercial, hotel and residential buildings, and educational and institutional complexes.

Professionally licensed across Canada and the United States, the principals of the organization maintain memberships in all related institutions, such as the Canadian Engineering Institute, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
