Modernization of Montreal’s most Luxurious Hotel

After years of dealing with the under-performing infrastructure of a building that dates back to 1912, The Ritz underwent a $200,000,000 modernization that involved almost complete gutting and upgrade of the existing building. SBSA was trusted to help restore what guests expected – how did we do it? By providing our client the exact same thing that you would expect staying while staying at the Ritz: high quality service and outstanding design.

Project highlights include:

  • The demolition of an existing parking structure that was in poor condition to make room for a 11 story extension that would house the ultimate luxury experience: The Residences at the Ritz-Carlton.
  • A two floor extension on top of the existing hotel building to house a new roof top pool and spa facility.
  • Numerous structural modifications and upgrades were made to the existing 100 year old structure, and a seismic evaluation was performed.

Responsive and creative solutions by SBSA, to the many challenges due to unexpected existing conditions helped make the restoration of this Montreal landmark a great success!
