Akiva School & Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue

Westmount, Quebec

This multi-phase project included major renovations and code upgrade to the existing school and synagogue buildings plus a new underground gymnasium in reinforced concrete construction.

The project involved complex site conditions, and innovative shoring and underpinning designs for the underground gym, which is directly adjacent to existing buildings on three sides.

Major modifications to existing exit stairs plus new stair additions resulted in additional structural challenges.
