SBSA was commissioned by Canadian Tire to design the structure of two retail buildings in Mont-Tremblant. The first building will house the flagship Canadian Tire store, while the second will accommodate L’Équipeur and Dollarama. SBSA collaborated with Canam to integrate a Murox superstructure for one of the buildings and a conventional steel frame for the other, with timber front canopies supported by concrete foundations. Both buildings are situated on delicate, liquefiable soil requiring dynamic compaction and careful structural design to mitigate potential damage from liquefaction.

To assess foundation risks and deliver structures suited to the region, SBSA drew on its extensive building structure expertise and worked closely with geotechnical industry partners. This approach allowed us to account for soil characteristics and ensure solid foundations, thereby guaranteeing the stability and safety of the buildings.
