A Building Covering a Complete City Block

Originally known as The Royal Bank Center for many years, this Ottawa landmark building located at 90 Sparks Street is a 14-level complex covering a complete city block, with central atrium and major bridge spans at the 12th to 14th level in composite structural steel/concrete construction. The original structure was progressively renovated in phases, with sections being demolished as new construction was ready for replacement thereby allowing personnel to continue functioning on the premises at all times. The building, with a size of roughly 400 000 square feet, was built from 1978 to 1981. SBSA, back then known as Shector Barbacki Forte and Associates worked alongside the architecture firm David Boulva Cleve.
