Creation of Open Concept Kitchen and Living Space
SBSA provided the structural engineering services to remove an existing bearing wall for the newly purchased duplex. The open space was used to create an open concept kitchen/living area. Due to the long length of the wall, and the subsequent long span for the required beam, a steel beam was selected for this project. The steel beam was supported at both ends by wood posts, one which rested on the existing foundation wall, and one which rested on the existing ground floor structure.
